Lecture (LEC)
- TOPIC: Contemporary Ethics
The particular subset of topics to be covered in this class will be determined by the intersection of graduate student needs (i.e. material in contemporary ethics in which every philosophy graduate student have a reasonable grounding) and graduate student interests (i.e. material in which graduate students are interested). To that end, when registration for the class is complete, I will send around to all registered students a choice of topics and ask registered students to express their level of interest or disinterest in each one. I will then use this input as a substantial basis on which I will choose three of the possible topics as focal points for the seminar. One goal is to cover work that is significant in contemporary ethics, but not covered in other graduate level courses in value theory in the department, and the initial list of topics will be drawn with that aim in mind.
