Career outcomes for philosophy students are extremely positive. The national mid-career salary for philosophy majors is above $80,000, exceeding that of accounting and business administration majors. Philosophy majors have one of the highest percentage growth rates in salary from starting to mid-career.
Our Philosophy majors have a history of finding meaningful employment. According to surveys conducted by the College’s Walter Center for Career Achievement, 100% of majors seeking employment report that they found a job that uses their training in philosophy and is relevant to their career goals.
The average starting salary for IUB Philosophy majors is $56,000, one of the highest in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Recent IU Philosophy graduates have gone on to philosophy graduate schools, including UCLA, Oxford University, the University of Toronto, and other top-rated philosophy programs. Our graduates have also attended law school at the University of Michigan and Yale, IU Medical School, NYU School of Journalism, and graduate school in education and social work.
