Bridger has published papers on Hume’s metaphysics of the self in The Philosophical Quarterly and his theory of causation in Mind. Right now, he is working on a book on Hume’s conceptual skepticism, which, unlike skepticism as usually understood, is concerned with the limits of intelligibility rather than those of knowledge. He also has interests in both historical and recent approaches to questions about perception and judgment. He is originally from Bozeman, Montana.

This interpretation reveals the philosophical value of Aristotle’s account; in particular, it shows that his account can explain how some vicious people can be satisfied with their lives and perform blameworthy actions without engaging in culpable motivated reasoning. In her current research, she’s developing the implications of such an interpretation for how we understand his moral psychology and ethical theory. She is also developing work on other ancient accounts of vice and negatively balanced character states, especially those of Plato and Seneca.
