About Yifan Cao

I graduated from Rutgers University-New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Arts, a double major in Philosophy and Comparative Literature. My major focus is the history of philosophy, especially the early modern period and David Hume. I’ve done an honor thesis project on Hume and his account of miracles in my undergraduate program. I am open to further discussion and research on Hume’s ethics/value theory and his views on the philosophy of religion, with connections to his epistemology.

My secondary interest is continental philosophy in general. One of my goals in the Ph.D. program is to figure out my philosophical methodology and ideology. For now, I am working on German Idealism and Dialectics, currently on Schelling. I am also familiar with phenomenology and existentialism. My Ph.D. minor will be critical theory, which is associated with and included in continental philosophy.
