Assistant Professor, Philosophy
I work on ancient Greek philosophy, especially Aristotle’s metaphysics. My current work aims to defend a causal account of priority in being in Aristotle and to situate Aristotle’s account against those of his predecessors, most notably Plato. I am also currently working on Aristotle’s critique of Platonic arguments for the Forms in his lost work the On Ideas.
I also maintain a lively interest in Plato, especially Plato’s ethics. I have written about Plato’s use of myth in Laws X and am a member of the Open Plato Project, which is currently working on an open-access, collaboratively generated translation and commentary on Plato’s Alcibiades.
